Animals that get lonely after a couple hours should be ruled out as a potential pet. Also, take into consideration the size of your home. Your pet should be proportionately related to the size of your home.

Last but most certainly not least in importance, make certain that you can afford whatever pet you choose. Larger pets or exotics will cost more in initial cost and the later upkeep in food and healthcare. Make certain you have enough funds available to support your pet.
